Unusual and unique character properties in France..

France has always been a favourite destination of the brits and we think this must be partly to do with the shared appreciation of character properties. The 'gite' is of course the french equivalent of a rural holiday cottage and provides an ideal base for exploring the french countryside. With medieval villages an towns dotted far and wide, we look at some charming french homes with an unusual twist that caught the eye..

During our exploration of the Dordogne region, we came across the stunning medieval town of Sarlat-Le-Caneda and discovered some truly stunning homes - both past and present:


The picture above shows the stunning 13th century 'Manoir de Gisson', which housed the Sarlat nobility in the private apartments.

Moving through the town, the outer edge has some more unusual architecture such as this conical dwelling:
